On August 1, RAN members visited Wards 1, 7, and 8 to engage residents in COVID-19 conversations and distribute PPE materials. RAN volunteers also provided informational cards explaining how the virus is spread, simple ways to protect oneself, and where to go for testing. Between all three sites, RAN distributed approximately 1,000 prevention kits to the community! These events marked the launch of a COVID-19 prevention series led by the Community Engagement Committee. We would like to thank Courtney Stewart, Avon Hart-Johnson, Jennifer Gajdosik, and Mercedes Mendez for their leadership as well as the staff of Voices For A Second Chance, Thrive DC, DC Project Connect, ULS, and the National Reentry Network for Returning Citizens, and other community members who volunteered to make this event a success!
