Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia
Legal Aid provides free legal assistance to individuals and families who have little or no income in the areas of reentry, housing law, public benefits law, consumer law, domestic violence/family law, and immigration law. Legal Aid assists justice involved clients in a wide range of matters related to their criminal convictions/arrests, including record sealing motions, complaints based upon violations of “ban the box” laws in both housing and employment, administrative and judicial challenges to housing denials based upon criminal record, appeals of denials of public benefits, and other reentry related matters arising in Legal Aid’s practice areas.
